Good.**Red Cloud (1822 –1909) was a leader of the Oglala Lakota from 1865 to 1909.[He was one of the most capable Native American opponents whom the United States Army faced in the western territories. He defeated the United States during Red Cloud's War, which was a fight over control of the Powder River Country in northeastern Wyoming and southern Montana. The largest action of the war was the 1866 Fetterman Fight, with 81 US soldiers killed; it was the worst military defeat suffered by the US Army on the Great Plains until the Battle of the Little Bighorn 10 years later.

A very good copy of this scarce book. ** "Sallie Rochester Ford was born in 1828 in at Rochester Springs, Mercer Company, Kentucky, United States. Daughter of Colonel James Henry and Demoretta (Pitts) Rochester. Sallie Rochester married Baptist preacher Samuel H. Ford in March 1855.. In 1860 she published "Mary Bunyan: The Blind Dreamer's Daughter", a fictionalized account of the persecution of John Bunyan, author of The Pilgrim's Progress. The bulk of the novel dealt with three women surrounding Bunyan and focused on their strength of resolve. Especially moving in this respect was Ford's depiction of the execution of Elizabeth Gaunt, whose death in 1685 allowed Ford to capture the utmost sacrifice a woman could make in service of her faith.." - The Free Library .

"Being the contents of the original Manuscript written by Master Andrew Barton, sometime Merchant and Shipowner, of Plymouth Town, England, which was found in the old log hut on Curdie's River. In which MS. Master Barton tells of the wild voyages of the "Gold Moidore" and the "White Ship" to the Great South Lsnd in search of treasure in the years 1627-1629, and of the astounding experiences by sea and land of the men who sailed in them". This book was published serially in England in 1915 under the title "The Mahogany Ship". Owing to the First World War, and the author's absence, no effort was made then to issue it in book form. Following the war, the book was to be published under that tite but in the last stage of corrections in the printing process, another book with the same title and about the same legend appeared on the market. The title of this book was hence changed to "The Luck of the Moidore". Pp.240, inscribed by the author ("Kenneth Williams with all good wishes from the writer on the occasion of his setting out for the University (Aberystwyth [later annotation] ) 29.9.21. Donald Maclean. Reading" to front free endpaper, slight toning to pages. Orange/brown cloth has fading to spine and mottled discolouration to boards, wear to top and tail of spine. Scarce. Good.
